Summary
The Visual Arts Committee (VAC) met on December 10, 2025. The committee approved minutes from their June 11, 2025 meeting. A significant portion of the meeting involved the Lot 12 affordable housing project, where staff and the developer presented the public art plan. The VAC discussed the art budget of $75,000, the number of anticipated art pieces (one to three), and the integration of art throughout the project site. The committee also discussed outreach to future residents and the use of the community space. Three members (Joe Medwid, Cliff Bryant, and Susi Merhar) were appointed to an ad hoc subcommittee to review artist proposals for the Lot 12 project. Staff also provided updates on various capital improvement program public art projects, including Evelyn Park, Villa-Chiquita Park, Rengstorff buildings, Shoreline Boathouse, and the Castro Street Bollard Beautification project. An online survey for the Public Art Strategy closes December 14, and an artwork installation by Robin Bernstein is scheduled for December 16.
