Every agenda, read the day it posts.
MotionCount reads what 2,423 cities, counties, school districts, and special districts publish before they meet: the agenda, the staff report, and every attachment. Each item comes back as what it does, the money involved, who is named, and when it happens, with every figure quoted from the page it was printed on.
How an item gets read
- Collected
Agenda portals are synced daily. The whole packet comes in, not just the line on the agenda, so the contract, the bond resolution, and the staff memo are all read.
- Read
Each item is read once, in full. The action before the body, the dollar figures, the firms and their roles, the dates, and the obligations are pulled out with the sentence each came from.
- Checked
Every value has to be found printed in the source before it is shown. The item page underlines the exact words, so anyone can check a number against the document in a click.
- Filed
Items are sorted into the feeds for the work they matter to: 5 markets, 16 lines of work, filterable by state.
