Consideration of a resolution honoring Master Peace Officer William Preston Jr., submitted by Commissioner Pct. 2

The Galveston County Commissioners' Court has passed a resolution honoring Master Peace Officer William Preston Scott Jr. for his exceptional career spanning 61 years and 3 months of continuous service. Officer Scott began his law enforcement journey in 1964 with the Galveston Police Department, serving in various capacities including Narcotics and Vice, and supervising the Beach Patrol Division from 1966 to 1982. He retired from GPD in 2010 as the last Civil Service Corporal. Following his retirement, he continued his service as a reserve deputy with the Galveston County Constable's Office starting in 2010, and was called to active duty in 2021 for Operation Lone Star. The resolution expresses profound gratitude for his lifelong commitment to protecting and serving the residents of Galveston County, acknowledging his extensive training, wisdom, and dedication which have left an indelible mark on the community.
