Resolution/Appointing and Reappointing Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Members

This resolution appoints and reappoints members to the DeSoto County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. The committee, established by Ordinance 1993-02 and amended by Ordinance 2008-14, is mandated by Florida Statute 420.9076 to advise on local affordable housing incentives and produce an annual report. The committee requires at least 11 members representing at least 6 of 11 demographic categories.

Appointed/Reappointed Members (3-year term):

• Thelma Guice
• Melanie Brown
• Oralia Ramirez
• Donna Doubleday
• Derek Taylor
• Holly Layport (Program Manager for Habitat for Humanity, also coordinator for Toys for Tots)

Three additional members will be appointed via separate resolution to fill remaining vacancies. The resolution takes effect immediately upon adoption on January 27, 2026.
