The City Council will review and take action on four appeals concerning twenty questions from the Police Sergeant promotional examination administered on January 17, 2026. The appeals are being heard by the Commission as per Texas Local Government Code Chapter 143.034, which allows eligible candidates to review their exams and appeal grading. The department has provided responses to each appealed question, generally asserting that the keyed answers are correct and derived from the provided source material. However, the department recommends eliminating three questions (39, 41, and 42) as they were not from the source material. For Question 25, the department believes both answers A and D are correct. The appeals will be decided by the Commission, which can sustain the answer key, disqualify the answer key and accept alternate answers, or disqualify the test question entirely. The examination itself was administered on January 17, 2026, with raw scores and demographic data also provided.
