Resolution authorizing the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to acquire and use portions of a City-owned parcel for the National Avenue reconstruction project.

This resolution authorizes the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to acquire and use portions of a City-owned parcel (Parcel 21, 0.125 acres) located at the northwest quadrant of the National Avenue and I-41/894 interchange. The National Avenue Reconstruction Project requires approximately 0.002 acres in fee for roadway right-of-way to construct a raised cycle track and a shared-use path. An additional 0.011 acres will be used as a temporary easement for sidewalk and driveway access replacement.

No monetary payment is required for this transfer of approximately 0.013 acres as the City is effectively compensating itself. The resolution also stipulates that WisDOT's Standard Specifications for Highway and Structure Construction (2025 Edition) will govern contractor activities on City-owned land, providing protections for City property and liability. The resolution was adopted by the City of West Allis Common Council on February 24, 2026.
