Resolution authorizing the City Engineer to enter into an agreement for reimbursement from MMSD to fund the disconnection of foundation drains and sanitary lateral rehabilitations on 2025 street reconstructions in an amount not to exceed $146,000.

The City of West Allis is entering into a funding agreement with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) for up to $146,000 to reduce infiltration and inflow (I/I) into the sewer system. This funding will be used for the disconnection of foundation drains and the rehabilitation of sanitary laterals on streets scheduled for reconstruction in 2025. The goal is to decrease the amount of stormwater entering the wastewater treatment system, which is a common issue in older homes with defective pipes and improper connections. The work will involve pipe bursting to replace existing clay laterals with new HDPE pipe, installing new cleanouts, abandoning old palmer valves, and routing foundation drains to sump pump crocks. Storm lateral extensions will also be completed if property owners agree. The agreement is effective until the earliest of final payment, November 27th, 2026, or termination. The City will be reimbursed by MMSD for approved costs.
