The West Allis Common Council has authorized a public improvement project for miscellaneous sidewalk repair in the general area bounded by S. 108th St. to the west city limits and south city limits to the Union Pacific Railroad. This resolution (R-2025-5664) was passed and adopted on December 9, 2025, following a public hearing.

Project Details:

• Estimated Total Cost: The project has an estimated construction cost of $400,000.00, with an additional $40,000.00 allocated for contingency, bringing the total estimated cost to $440,000.00.
• Funding: The work will be performed using a combination of Bond Funds and Special Assessments levied against benefited properties.

Special Assessments & Payment Options:

• Property owners will be billed for their share of the improvement, with a due date for payment without interest 30 days after the billing date. An annual interest rate of 4.0% applies to installment plans.
• Payment Plans:
  • Assessments of $100.00 or less: Due in full or paid with the next tax roll.
  • Assessments between $100.01 and $250.00: Eligible for five annual installments.
  • Assessments over $250.00: Eligible for ten annual installments.
• Assessment Rates (Percentage of Cost):
  • Residential: 50% for sidewalks/carriage walks; 100% for service walks, asphalt, grinding, and driveway approaches.
  • Commercial: 62.5% for sidewalks/carriage walks; 100% for service walks, asphalt, grinding, and driveway approaches.
  • Manufacturing: 75% for sidewalks/carriage walks; 100% for service walks, asphalt, grinding, and driveway approaches.

The Board of Public Works is directed to implement the repairs and advertise for sealed proposals.
