Resolution to confirm and adopt the report of the City Engineer containing the schedule of proposed assessments for improvement of various sidewalks by concrete reconstruction.

The City of West Allis Common Council adopted Resolution R-2025-5658 on December 9, 2025, confirming and approving the City Engineer's report for concrete reconstruction of various sidewalks. This project, initiated by Resolution R-2025-4251, targets the general area bounded by S. 108th St. to west city limits and south city limits to the Union Pacific Railroad.

Project Scope & Cost:

• The total estimated cost for the sidewalk improvements is $440,000.00, which includes $400,000.00 for construction and a $40,000.00 contingency.
• Properties are deemed benefited, and proposed assessments total $48,477.22 to be levied against 193 properties (75 commercial, 113 residential, 3 manufacturing, 2 exempt).

Assessment Details:

• Property owners will be assessed based on the type of property and improvement, with residential properties paying 50%, commercial 62.5%, and manufacturing 75% of the cost for standard sidewalk and carriage walk repairs. Driveway approaches and miscellaneous asphalt repairs are assessed at 100%.
• Payment options include 1, 5, or 10-year installment plans with an annual interest rate of 4.0%, or a full payment without interest if made within 30 days of billing. The City Engineer, Melinda Dejewski, P.E., is authorized to prepare final plans.
