Summary
This resolution extends the deadline for Ark of the City, Incorporated to complete rehabilitation and commence job training programs at 1302 Northwest 54 Street, Miami, Florida. The extension grants an additional sixty (60) months beyond the original twenty-four (24) month deadline set in Resolution No. R-18-0240.
Key changes authorized include:
- Expansion of Eligible Activities: The property's use can now include job creation in addition to job training.
- Removal of Reversion Right: The City of Miami's right to reclaim the property (right of reversion) upon a Certificate of Use issuance will be removed.
- Managerial Authority: The City Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute necessary documents, including amendments and extensions, and can grant further extensions without additional Commission approval.
The original transfer of the property occurred on June 14, 2018, for CDBG-eligible activities focused on job training for low and moderate-income individuals.
Citizen Impact
This resolution provides Ark of the City, Incorporated with more time and flexibility to establish job training and creation programs at 1302 Northwest 54 Street. This could lead to increased local employment opportunities, but also removes the City's ability to reclaim the property if the organization fails to meet future obligations.
