26-41-1208-B Professional Services- Consideration of approval to utilize grant-match discretionary funds for the Bayshore Park Boat Ramp

Galveston County is set to approve a $337,210.00 contract with Brizo Construction, LLC for the reconstruction of the Bayshore Park Boat Ramp at 5437 FM 646, Bacliff, TX 77518. This project is crucial as the existing boat ramp sustained significant damage from Hurricane Harvey, with funding approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Scope of Work:

• Demolition and removal of the existing boat ramp structure.
• Mechanical dredging and disposal of 267 cubic yards of accumulated sediment from the adjacent waters.
• Construction of a new 38-foot-long by 29-foot-wide by 16-inch-thick concrete boat ramp with a 9-inch-thick by 4-foot-deep toe wall.
• Implementation of a cofferdam/dewatering system and final site cleanup.

Timeline & Requirements:
The contractor is expected to complete the work within 80 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, anticipated around July 14, 2025. The project is subject to Davis-Bacon Wage Rates and requires both Performance and Payment Bonds. Delays will incur liquidated damages of $1,000.00 per calendar day. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has issued a Letter of Permission (SWG-2021-00778), valid until December 31, 2027, for the authorized activities.
