Consideration of authorization for County Judge to submit the FY2027 Strategic Marine Investigation: Phase One - Capacity Enhancement Project grant application and execute the supporting resolution to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, submitted by Grants Administration Department

The Galveston County Commissioners Court is considering authorizing the County Judge to submit a grant application for the FY2027 Strategic Marine Investigation: Phase One - Capacity Enhancement Project. This project aims to enhance the capabilities of the Galveston County Sheriff's Office Dive Team, which is expanding into a county-wide collaborative public safety dive team. The grant funding, totaling $148,520.40, will be used for essential Public Safety Diver training (including UCI, MUCI, and ERDI certifications) and specialized equipment. This investment is crucial for ensuring diver safety, protecting public health, reducing operational risks, and maintaining a highly trained regional dive team capable of responding to emergencies, criminal investigations, and maritime security threats across Galveston County. The County is not contributing any funds to this project. The Court will also authorize the County Judge to execute a supporting resolution.
